2 different Phase wire se light bulb glow kar sakte hai.par condition ye honi chahiye 1) 2 lamp series mein connect ho (kyuki 440v ka lamp nahi hota) 2)Dono lamps same wattage ke hone chaiye (Verna ek lamp blow ho jayega)

For a 240v volts supply if we use a Varistor rated for 270v then the varistor will fail instantly. Since varistors are very sensitive they don't operate according to AC RMS values rather according to Peak Values of voltage. Say for a 240v RMS the peak voltage will be 339 v (peak) then a Varistor rated for 270 volts will breakdown immediately.
